School is Over! by McKenna Kirby
Once the other butterflies emerged out of their cocoons the class had to let us go! It was cool to be let go! I liked being free! I knew I was going to miss the class so I just stood there looking at them walking inside. But then, one of the boys in the class stuck his finger out so I hopped on. I was cool to touch a human! I will miss that class!
School's Out! by Sophie Turner
Now back to the present. This year I enjoyed science tests, research paper, science projects, and assemblies. We did journals entries, and the steps we would go through included writing, dating it, and giving it to Mrs. Short so she can read it and tell us that is cool.
I love 5th grade soooooooooooo much. I hope you like my story and hope you send me comments about it. Oh and parents tell your children what it was like when you were in 5th grade. See ya. Oh, I forgot one thing. You older siblings do the same. Now see ya.
Random Things We Did During the Year by David Trottier
How fast the time goes by! by Melanie Matson
WOW! This has been he shortest school year EVER! I am going to miss going to fifth grade, but I am also really excited for sixth grade. I remember all the things we did. Here's a list of the most important things we did. At the beginning of the year, we did an Aztec, Maya and Inca unit. We learned about the stories they tell and how they live, including where they lived. Some of the other units we studied in history throughout the year were the Civil War, the Renaissance, Native Americans, Japan and Russia, maps and globes, the West, and the Earth. In science, the big "thing" was the Science Fair. It took many weeks, but was really fun. The other things we studied throughout the year in science were cells, the maturation program, and magnets. We finally finished our grammar books, which took all year. We also did Lexia, a computer unit, where we learned about reading and language arts. Well...Farewell! I hope to see you soon! back to the planet Meep!
Looking Back by Landon Hall
Now we are on the first day at school, and everyone is excited and ready. We did all the stuff, new subjects, and new things. We started with classification in science, electricity, cells, earth and more. We started blogs and spelling and Daily News. Now in October and December, we did art, portraits, and a lot of grammar. Near New Years, we started doing Hope of America and Science Fair. We worked very hard. Then the renaissance party started. Food and jokers and other stuff. In February we did history, westward movement, and in history we also did Maya, Inca Aztecs, Civil War, and Golden Ages. Now in the last few months of school we are finishing up. Hope of America, elocution, science fair, Boondocks, and testing. And our research paper! Now we are back at the end Looking Back on 5th Grade. New friends, new subjects, new activities, and reaching new heights. We really are Super Stars! (well at least I am) :)
As I finished reading, I felt better about going into 5th galaxy. I was really excited and happy. Now it is the last day of school, and I am looking back. Maybe next year I will find a fossil of one of those orange stick creatures. Who knows? See ya later!

Screeching Our Way Through Strings by Megan Call
Have you heard your children play the violin or cello? I have, and they sound pretty good.
In strings, we have this thing called challenges. What do we do? Good question. Well, first Mrs. Tripp pulls two names out of a bucket. Then she picks a song and those two specific people challenge to see which plays best. Whoever wins gets to roll a die and move their player across the board. It is like the best game ever!
Did you know we are almost done with our violin and cello book? Well, we do, and we have only have five songs left! The most important song we're working on is called, Cripple Creek. It's a smooth, pretty song. We love to play it!
Have you heard about pass-off songs? We go to this special room that has a tape recorder, chair, microphone, and stand. Then, we play our memorized song. Don't forget to say your name and the song you're playing! Most people are almost done. (P.S. don't cheat and look at your songs notes.)
Enough with that. Okay, let's talk about our wonderful teacher, Mrs. Tripp. She's pretty cool. She says we are one of her favorite classes and most talkative.
Well, there's the update for March's strings. Tune in next time for more.

PE by David Trottier
I'm doing PE in this newsletter. We've been doing games and dances. For games we do any kind of tag game, like hospital tag for instance. If you get tagged three times you go to the hospital. We had a tag game where people who were dressed in red were it. The people who are it tag the other people to get them into the group.
In dance we've been doing rock steps and the swing. In rock steps, the man steps opposite the direction of the woman. In swing, the woman usually goes under. There's also another kind of dance that we've been doing where we go around in circles. That's all I can think of.
Hoppin' History by Tanner Fredrickson
We learned about the pioneers moving West. We have a map of what and who bought or won a war for the area of our country. So we (Utah) were won in a war. We also learned about the North and South Regions. And Manifest Destiny is when we discovered what was past the Appalachians. And we learned about the long hunters, backwoodsmen, and the original pioneer. So I hope that was educational. Bye!
Guess Who! by Sophie Turner
Today I will be interviewing two people. They are both boys. One of the boys has blue eyes and one of them has hazel eyes. They both have freckles. Their favorite sports are fencing and volleyball. Their favorite colors are blue and red. Their favorite food is pizza and mac and cheese. Their hair color is red and blond. Can you guess who they are?
